Effect of Wind Direction and Velocity on PV Panels Cooling with Perforated Heat Sinks

The numerical modeling of the effect wind direction and velocity over air cooling PV panels with heat sinks is realized. During study, a random panel typical characteristics was analyzed for three different directions—towards its back, towards front from side. analysis realized on fixed panel, oriented to south, an inclination 45 degrees horizontal position. accuracy simulation achieved by comparison experimental studies presented in literature comparing NOCT conditions. study focused types attached panel. fins were distributed both horizontally vertically. A challenging task consisted real conditions around taking into account entire domain. simulations vair 1 m/s 5 m/s, solar radiation G = 1000 W/m2 ambient temperature tair 35 °C. output parameters average their power production. Although lowest temperatures back wind, more intense side wind. other studied also determined panels. passive solutions introduced rise maximum production between 1.85% 7.71% above base case, depending velocity.
